Friday Night Feast

I was kindly invited to come and try some food at My Ranches diner in Sunderland and it was delicious

The order:

  • Cheesy garlic bread
  • 50 states bacon and beef burger
  • Flaming hot parmo
  • Chicken funky fries
  • Bacon funky fries
  • New York waffles

I opted for the flaming hot parmo and it was huge! The chicken was so tender on the inside with a delicious crunch on the outside (and some heat)

The parmo was a great choice, especially when paired with the chicken funky fries. They were seasoned beautifully and the garlic mayo dip to go with them was a solid choice.

I had a few bites of the 50 states burger and the meat was juicy and the burger was also massive!

We made some room for dessert and shared the New York Waffles, it was a chocolate feast served with both cream and ice cream, it was a delicious tasty treat.

The interior of the diner is super fun and inviting with plenty of neon signs and they even had a separate dessert station.

My friend and I had quite the feast! The portion sizes were huge, the food was tasty and the prices are very reasonable.

Curry Night #Gifted

Feeling very full after being kindly gifted a curry night in from Mia’s, Pelton.

My favourite dish had to be the chicken tikka masala curry as I’m obsessed with the rich and creamy sauce.

I also love the idea of the masala naan kebab, it’s fantastic! I’ll be ordering this next time I fancy a curry night in.

The order:

• Tandoori mixed grill

• Masala naan kebab

• Chicken Tikka Masala

• Mutton Madras

• Garlic Pilau Rice

• Pilau Rice

I also really enjoyed some of the meat from the tandoori mixed grill. It’s not something that I’d usually choose for a curry night but I did love the flavours.

This was the ultimate curry feast! I’d highly recommend that you try it as every dish was spot on.

Little Sicily, Durham

Hi my fellow foodies!

This month’s blog focuses on my trip to Little Sicily, Durham

Had a lovely catch-up with some friends over some stunning food last night. What used to be Sambucas in Durham is now a Little Sicily, which was a nice surprise.

The Order:

Starters

• Calamari

• Cheesy garlic bread

• Black pudding with peppercorn sauce

Mains

• Maramanti

• Lasagne

• Bolognese

• Chicken Kiev pizza

Dessert

• Chocolate brownie & ice cream

This was my second visit to Little Sicily. My first visit to Little Sicily was when the new one opened in Sedgefield, I had the cajun beef penne when I visited there

Happy to say that the food at the Durham one was just as gorgeous as the first time round.

This time, I had the Maramanti pasta, which had prawns and spicy sausage. I ordered tagliatelle with it this time, as I found that when I ordered the penne, the portion was a bit skimpy. Very pleased with this portion though.

I’ll be coming back here for sure, it was very reasonably priced and tasty.

You’re Bacon Me Crazy

Hi my fellow foodies!

This month’s blog post is all about the bacon and sausage breakfast muffin which has become my most liked post ever – It’s currently got 628 likes!

It’s crazy that some posts can just blow up over time, it does make me laugh that it’s just the simple bacon and sausage muffin that has done that as it’s so easy to make. The people just love it!

I was craving some form of breakfast sandwich and then remembered that I had some muffins in the freezer, which was even better. I really enjoyed devouring this.

Rate My Pizza – Blogger Edition #Invited

Hi my fellow foodies! I’m back and better than ever.

This blog is a recap of what happened when I was invited down to Punto Italian Kitchen in Heaton to make some pizza.

Punto were holding their own ‘Rate my pizza – blogger edition’ which is such a great idea. I was chuffed to be asked to take part in this. Other local food bloggers also took part and our scores were ranked in a leader board to make it a fun little competition.

We spent some time learning and making a pizza of our choice from Punto’s menu. It was so fun to get hands on and make the pizza ourselves (after watching a pizza making demo from Zeno)

At first I found it challenging when stretching the dough out, as I haven’t made a pizza in years! When I finally got into the swing of things, I found it very enjoyable and a lot less stressful. I wanted to do my best but I prioritised having the best time over making the perfect pizza.

The pizzas were absolutely lush. We ended up making the Speziata pizza and the Nduja Like Goats Cheese pizza. We were also given free drinks, some delicious Italian sparkling soft drinks which were very refreshing.

I can’t thank Punto enough for this experience – Zeno and Damiano went above and beyond with their Italian hospitality and it was a pleasure to get to know them both. Go and visit Punto Italian Kitchen for some delicious pizza and hospitality.

Keep an eye out for our scores and the video coming out in the next few weeks on Punto’s Insta!

Curry Club

Hi my fellow foodies, hope you’re all doing well!

Last week I went to Reema in Darlington for a curry with my friends and it was delicious

I couldn’t remember the last time I went out for a curry, so it was something different for me and it went down a treat! The order was:

Chicken tikka masala
Jalfrezi
Dupiaza
Pilau rice
Garlic rice
Garlic naan

The full order
Chicken tikka masala

I had the chicken tikka masala as I’m not the biggest fan of spice. It was creamy and delicious and the colour was just so vibrant and red.

The garlic rice was lush as well. I had a garlic naan bread to dip into my tikka sauce, and it was so garlicy and tasty.

A garlic overload for me!

Dupiaza

The Poacher’s Pocket

Hi my fellow foodies, hope you’re all doing well!

I went for tea at The Poacher’s Pocket last week. It’s my local place for pub grub and you just know whatever you order is going to be delicious.

Now time to show you what we ordered

First, we have the bao buns. The fillings were, katsu chicken, sticky belly pork and duck and hoisin sauce

Next, we have the chilli battered beef sizzler plate with a side of chips, wraps and rice to pair it with. It also came with a pot of sweet chili sauce. It smelt delicious!

A classic pub burger here, we have the Juicy Lucy burger with melted cheese inside the burger patty. It came with the classic homecooked chips and some onion rings.

Finally, we have a choice from the light bite menu. I got the garlic chicken and cheese baguette with chips and salad. It was only £5 and well worth it!

It could’ve been slightly more garlicy, but that’s just because I love garlic mayo! Other than that it didn’t disappoint.

Dining At The Lakes

Hi my fellow foodies, hope you’re all doing well!

I went on a mini holiday to the lakes the other week and had some lush food whilst being there

It was my boyfriends birthday so we splashed out a little and went to some boujie places

First of all, we visited Brossen Steakhouse. This was a steak house within the hotel called Inn on the Square

I’ve been before but had to book in again, as it was incredible!

Steak for two

We both got the 10oz fillet steak cooked medium rare

The sides were, skinny fries, panko breaded onion rings and chunky triple cooked chips in beef dripping

The beef dripping chips were sensational

Steak

Next we went to Lorde Falls hotel to eat at Mizu, which is a pan Asian restaurant

We ordered the mixed grill platter to share which consisted of:
• Sticky egg fried rice
• Corn on the cob in sesame sauce
• Noodles
• Steamed buns
• Edamame beans

I would have to say that this has been the best meal I’ve had in ages. The flavours were insane and everything was so rich

Mixed grill platter

I hope you’ve enjoyed the post this week. The food I’ve had out has been super nice and I’m happy to share

One potato, two potato…

Hi my fellow foodies, hope you’re all doing well!

Last month I was lucky enough to be gifted a rather large selection of chilled potato products from Cheshire Farm

I absolutely love anything that involves wedges, fries or roasties, so I really was in luck with this gifted sample box

Sweet potato fries & spicy potato bites

The box included:

-Hand Cut Chips
-Roast Potatoes with Goose Fat
-Potato Wedges with Sea Salt and Black Pepper
-Sliced Potatoes with Garlic and Rosemary
-Spicy Potato Bites
-Sweet Potato Chips
-Potato Bites with Rosemary and Sea Salt

BBQ spiced wedges

It took me a few weeks to get through the lot! I would say that my top 3 favourites were the sweet potato fries, spicy potato bites and the thick hand cut chips

Top 2 favourites

All of the boxes keep chilled in the fridge or they’re able to be frozen

This was really useful as I could pick and choose which side I wanted deepening on what I made for tea that night

I would 100% eat these again

Hope you enjoyed the post & check out @fatbottomfoodies on Instagram to keep up with the foodie posts

La Mensa

Hi my fellow foodies, I hope you’re all doing well!

This week, I want to talk to you about La Mensa! A new Italian restaurant in Ferryhill, County Durham

I absolutely love an Italian restaurant, so I was highly impressed by this. I’m happy it’s very local to where I live as I already can’t wait to visit again sometime soon

Here we go! I really hope you enjoy the pics, they’ll make your mouth water…I promise

First up we have the three (huge) bowls of pasta

Pasta bowls

We ordered:

• Traditional carbonara
• Bosco pasta with penne
• Penne Alfredo

They all were stunning and I’m glad that we all ordered something different so we could really try the menu to see what was the best

Next, onto the starters and pizza

Chicken Kiev pizza
Mozzerella frittie
Potato skins with cheese and chorizo

We ordered:

• Chicken Kiev pizza
• Mozzerella frittie
• Potato skins with cheese & chorizo

The pizza was super cheesy and had plenty of garlic on it too, which is one of the main reasons I ordered it for myself!

The mozzerella frittie was to die for, the cheese pull was certainly worth it

I managed to pinch a potato skin from my friend and it was so crunchy and cheesy. I was quite jealous of his starter…

Overall it was super tasty and cheap too as it all came to around £90 for the 5 of us (including a few pints of cider too)

See you in two weeks time my fellow foodies
